Faramir is a character in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy, The Lord of the Rings. He is the younger son of Denethor II, the Steward of Gondor, and brother of Boromir.
Unlike his ambitious and charismatic brother, Faramir is known for his wisdom, gentleness, and devotion to Gondor without seeking personal glory. He is a skilled captain of the Rangers of Ithilien, defending Gondor's eastern borders against incursions from Mordor.
